CHOOSE - Four More Years or No More Tears

Here are my impressions of McCain's speech at the GOP convention. He's hardly able to control a crowd of 'his supporters' let alone lead this country. When the crowd boo'ed repeatedly after mention of McCain's misguided perception of Obama's policies, it honestly sounded like a bunch of sheep bleating.

I just saw someone yawn. Now he's talking about sending $700 billion a year to countries that don't like us very much, would that include the $85 billion a year or so that the war in Iraq costs?

"Show the world again how Americans lead." Does he mean to continue Bush & Dick's leadership, or is he agreeing we made a mistake to go into Iraq and that the USA is currently despised by much of the world?

Now he's telling the story of when he was 5 years old and his father was called off to WWII. He's preaching peace, but all his prior votes and experience in Vietnam indicate McCain is a fighter and pro-war.

It's awfully funny that the word CHANGE is coming up repeatedly, over and over, in his speech. Is change voting along the party line and with Bush policies 90% of the time?

"Again and again, again and again, I have worked with members of both parties to fix problems that need to be fixed, that's how I will govern as president. I will reach out my hand to get this country moving again. My friends, I have that record and the scars to prove it. Senator Obama does not." He sounds like a broken record for crying out loud... Come on, 'scars to prove it', oh Washington is really that tough of a place huh? Or is he referring again to his time spent as a POW? "Instead of rejecting good ideas because we didn't think of them first, let's use the best ideas from both sides. Instead of fighting over who gets the credit, lets share it." Or better yet, how about we just vote for the guy who has had the idea of CHANGE IN WASHINGTON all along? McCain sounds like he would vote for Obama if he could.

Ok, now we're over the Gulf of Tonkin. He's been shot down and an angry crowd waiting to greet him. His fellow soldiers save his life in captivity. Very touching, how about we get back to the issues facing this country today??? I guess that will have to wait until 'story time' is over. "I always liked to strut a little after I'd been roughed up, to show the other guys I was tough enough to take it. But after I had turned down their offer [of early release], they worked me over harder than the ever had before, for a long time, and they broke me. When they brought me back to my cell, I was hurt and ashamed and I didn't know how I could face my other prisoners." Can we get back to the issues?

"I fell in love with my country when I was a prisoner in someone else's." Oh really, wouldn't that be like Michelle Obama saying that she's "For the first time in my adult lifetime, I’m really proud of my country … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change," and "I have been desperate to see our country moving in that direction and just not feeling so alone in my frustration and disappointment." a comment that she took a lot of Republican heat for, even though she's not the one running for president? McCain didn't love the USA before he was a POW? I guess he was just such a war hawk that he went over to Vietnam to fight and kill for giggles.

"I'm not running for president because I think I'm blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save our country in its hour of need." Oh really John, if this was meant to be a stab at Barak Obama, your whole POW and Maverick tangents sure mirror the claim you're trying to mock. "My country saved me. My country saved me, and I cannot forget it, and I will fight for her as long as I draw breath, so help me God." Good to know John; here I thought you were such a misogynist.

And now the FIGHT has begun, as McCain continues to use the word 'fight' 10 or more times: "Fight with me! Fight with me! Fight for what's right for right for this country. ... Stand up to defend this country! Stand up! Stand up! Stand up and fight! ... We never hide from history, we make history!" John you sure like to fight. Maybe you learned the wrong lesson from Vietnam and should try to Give Peace a Chance. I'll say again McCain = WAR period. I have a strong feeling that history will judge the past 8 years in US history as a complete down turn. Do we want to continue this downward spiral for another 4 years?? This is a pivitol time for a country! McCain is right about one thing, we need change!

Now a little from the NBC commentators:
"We're ready to release the balloons from the rafter after a call to arms from John McCain the nominee. We called him a warrior here tonight during our coverage and he'll need all the fight he has in him for the next 61 days starting tomorrow morning as he heads into this campaign."

"What's interesting that McCain used the word 'change' ten
times.
"
Oh really John, where's all this change you just started to talk about about been the past QUARTER CENTURY that you have been in Congress???? I hope I'm not the only one calling BULL SHIT on this one. At least McCain is right about one thing when he says "change is coming" and that 'change' will be brought by Barak Obama.
